A paradise for the wildlife enthusiasts, Ranthambore National Park embraces the best of nature in its bosom. Declared as a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1957, the Ranthambore National Park was offered the protection of “Project Tiger” in the year 1974. It was in 1981 that Ranthambore was declared as a National Park.

Touring the Ranthambore National Park is a journey in itself, as the Park is dotted with numerous structures that recite the story of the past. A wonder of the Chauhan dynasty, the Ranthambore Fort was initiated under the rule of King Sapaldaksha in 944 AD. However, the main construction of the fort started during the time period of Rao Hammir Deo Chauhan. Standing tall at a height of 700ft, the fort is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Another major attraction of the park is the Trinetra Ganesh Temple, which is popular among the Hindu pilgrims. Dedicated to the entire family of Lord Ganesha, this temple was built by King Hammer. With five aartis held every day, the temple remains soaked in spirituality.
The ones seeking peace, head to the Surwal Lake and the Padam Lake, situated in the vicinity of the National Park. Apart from a calm environment, the lakes also offer a great opportunity to spot wild animals that flock here to quench their thirst.
Raj Bagh Ruins also add to the distinctiveness of the Wildlife Reserve. These ruins let you walk down the memory lanes where you learn about the royal era of Rajasthan mirroring in the relics of arches, palace outhouses, domes and steps.
