One of the most favourite tourist destinations of recent times, Mcleodganj in Himachal Pradesh is sometimes referred to as the Little Lhasa. Attractions
Mcleodganj is home of to one of the most beautiful, scenic and exciting treks of the country, the Triund Trek. It is also the base camp for reaching the summit of the famous hill. Upon reaching the top of Triund, one can experience far off hills of the Dhauladhar mountain range.

Bhagsu Waterfall is another popular attraction here. Situated close to Bhagsunath Temple, the waterfall is one of the beautiful streams in the destination. During the monsoon season, the waterfall has a cascade of 30 ft. Decorated with slate graffiti, the mountain side of the fall is among the highlights of the tourist spot.

Another major attraction here is the Namgyal Monastery, which is a religious centre situated next to the residence of spiritual leader of Tibetan Government Dalai Lama. Located in the midst of lush forests of pines, oaks and cedars, the monastery is designed in Tibetan style of architecture. The monastery is overlooked by Dhauladhar ranges, which comprises a Tibetan Museum, a cafeteria, a book shop, and a library.

Another popular tourist spot here is the Kareri Lake. The lake is filled with the melting snow of the Dhauladhar ranges, and is located at the base of the Minkiani Pass. Serving as the perfect combination of offbeat trekking and scenic beauty in the middle of snow-capped peaks, the added experience of the lake is camping by its side in a scenic meadow right under the Minkiani Pass.

Best time to visit
Mcleodganj experiences extremely pleasant summers with the temperatures hovering around 25 degrees. The best time to visit Mcleodganj is during the months of September to June. It is best to avoid July and August due to the heavy rainfall Mcleodganj receives.

By Train - Pathankot Railway Station serves as the nearest railhead to Mcleodganj. Passengers can avail trains that ply between Delhi and Jammu to reach Mcleodganj.
